A free prekindergarten program is available to any child turning four years old by September 1st through the Florida Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program. Planet Kids at Wellington is a certified center designated for participation in Florida’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program (VPK). The VPK program is a statewide effort to enhance the educational readiness for students entering kindergarten. The curriculum focuses on reading, writing, and social skills to prepare children for kindergarten. Planet Kids maintains the required teacher to student ratio of no higher than 1 to 11 students and all VPK instructors have at least a child development associates degree or a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. VPK emergent literacy training is also required for all of our instructors. VPK is offered during the school year or during the summer.
We offer a structured curriculum to prepare our students for kindergarten. Our curriculum exposes students to a multitude of learning experiences through monthly theses that actively engage each student to gain the skills and knowledge needed to excel. Our curriculum focuses on language arts, math, science and a strong phonics based program. Planet Kids at Wellington provides each student with the opportunity to develop their cognitive, social emotional, linguistic and creative abilities. Further, there are monthly field trips and an end of year memorable graduation ceremony.
Kindergarten readiness is the primary mission for a VPK program. As you can see by our results, students completing our program score very highly on the VPK readiness Florida state test. The VPK readiness test is give to all kindergarten students who have recieved VPK funding from their preschool. Please click here to see our results.
These top results are achieved through a combination of great teachers, great curriculum and assessment testing throughout the year. Your child will participate in a pre-test in August, a mid-year test in January and a end of year test in May. These three assessments are used to monitor and adjust your child's education. Our outcomes show that this combination provides superior academic results for our preschool students.
Planet Kids at Wellington offers a variety of options for parents including morning or afternoon instruction. While parents do not pay for VPK, they may opt for extended instruction. The extended instructional program starts with the VPK program in the morning and continues with the school’s premium academic offering in the afternoon.
